Frederick tops all American top-three in opening Donington test

Carlin’s Kaylen Frederick claimed the fastest time in the opening test session of the day on the Donington Park Grand Prix circuit this morning. He was just 0.024s quicker than Douglas Motorsport’s Silverstone race winner Benjamin Pedersen, with Double R’s Neil Verhagen completing an all American top-three, a further 0.095s behind.

Race 1: 2nd Place – 1:25.069 Seconds (.062 seconds behind Pole Position)
Race 3: 3rd Place
Qualifying Race one second, race three third, Kaylen Frederick:
“We’ve been quite comfortable in practice so we knew we’d have the pace coming into qualifying. I had a bit of a different strategy than everyone else, we used two more tyres than anyone else to get another lap time in.
“I was comfortable with where the car was so I could push it as hard as I could but obviously was missing a bit in the end, but I’m happy with where I’m starting for races one and three.”
Race 1: Saturday, June 22 2019
Frederick in second looked to challenge leader Hoggard at Redgate on lap one, but was rebuffed and then fell into the clutches of Simmons, who made a move stick at McLeans to demote Frederick back to third place by the end of the first lap, which he retained for the remainder of the race.
Penalty Assigned Car 8/Kaylen Frederick
BRDC F3 Clerk of the Course: “Following a formal complaint from a team, the Clerk of the Course found that the driver of car 8 made a false start as defined by Motorsport UK regulation Q12.4.
Accordingly the driver of car 8 is penalized by the addition of ten seconds to his race time in race one, in accordance with Motorsport UK regulation Q12.5.
The 10 second penalty means Frederick drops from third to 10th in the final result, promoting Kiern Jewiss to third place.”

Start Position: 15th Place (Reverse Grid from Race 1 Finish)
DNF: 1st Lap Collision
Race 3: Sunday, June 23 2019
DNS: Car 8 Failed to complete a lap at speed due to electrical issues. After two attempts to correct the substantial power loss Car 8 was retired.
