Pilot ONE Racing and Driver Kaylen Frederick: 2024 Planning

Looking to expand sponsor and driver visibility for Pilot ONE Racing and Kaylen Frederick, as well as more track knowledge toward career growth, 2024 planning focuses closely on two series: Indy NXT and Japan Super Formula Lights. A brief overview is provided below of each series and the inherent opportunities.

Quick Glance: USA | The Indy NXT Series

Indy NXT is the entry level and feeder series for IndyCar. With a typical field of 18-20 drivers, competition is substantial in a series contested mostly by US and European drivers. The NXT series is owned by IndyCar and allows drivers to be followed firsthand by the teams of IndyCar, and hopefully opening doors to this series. With a 14-race calendar, venues include road courses (8), ovals (3), and street tracks (3). Races in NXT may be viewed live via the NXT website or IndyCar commercial broadcasts.

Indianapolis Official Test Highlights:

Kaylen Frederick drove the HMD Motorsports NXT Dallara in a one-day Official Pre-Season test at Indianapolis on October 20. In a testing field of 21 drivers, HMD ran nine drivers. The team had a strong showing in testing, bested only by Foster in the Andretti NXT car. Just .4276 of a second separated the top eight drivers in the test, on the 14-turn, 2.439 mile road course that incorporates part of the iconic IMS oval.

Kaylen returned to the circuit for the first time following a five-year program abroad. As the team opted to forego the morning session due to a wet and drying track, Kaylen rolled out for his first laps in the afternoon session. Kaylen’s times were at times in the top 3, however red flags interrupted the final 23 minutes resulting in aborted flying laps and no end-of-day best time from Kaylen.
