Kaylen Frederick joins B-MAX Racing with their Super Formula Lights team in Japan!

B-MAX Racing focused both test days on coming to grips with the new Dallara 324 chassis powered by the (also new) TOMS spec engine, a Toyota Yaris 3-cylinder 1.6-liter turbo. Kaylen Frederick & B-MAX Racing worked the circuit for grip.

Day 1: Blue sky and dry | Day 2: Rain & wet tires throughout the day.

Kaylen Frederick:

“On day one, we were struggling with some issues which limited our running, but the team seemed to have sorted those out overnight for day two of testing. Unfortunately, it was wet the whole second day of testing. But this was a new track for me, so it was still valuable running for us. Overall, when we were on track at the same time as the others (track grip varied throughout the day between wet & less damp), our pace was very competitive, and the team did a good job in finding the right direction to go with the setup within constantly changing conditions. The car and tire compound are still new to everyone so there will be a lot of learning to come, but we made good use of these two days in preparing for the season.”

“Both the team and I are off to a great start to our partnership, and I am excited by the promise of what we can achieve this season. I’m looking very forward to further progress in the Official Test No. 2 at Fuji, two weeks from now.”
