Practice Sessions | July 18th & 19th: 8th Fastest (3 sessions)

Through all practice sessions, Kaylen finished in last place. On the Friday/Day 2 sessions, attempts were made to resolve lack of pace with major car setup revisions. Setup time required Kaylen miss ½ of the morning session and the afternoon session entirely, going into qualifying with no seat time.

Qualifying | July 19th/Friday

Qualifying 1: 12th Place | Qualifying 2: 8th Place (Pole)
Having had very restricted practice and no new tire runs, working hard to understand a new setup, Kaylen struggled to rise above last in Super Formula Light lap times. On the Q1 run, Kaylen went wide on two turns. Race stewards thereafter deleted this lap and Kaylen’s grid placement was derived from the warm-up lap time, which was not enough to raise him above 12th position. Q2 had similar struggles and outcomes, with Kaylen finishing in 8th.

Race 10 | Round 4 | July 20th/Saturday

Starting Positions: 12th Place
Finish Positions: 8th Place
In an excellent start, Kaylen overtook five positions in lap 1. In 7th place within turns 1 & 2, and overtaking for 7th in the end of the first lap, lack of car pace returned and Kaylen relinquished 3rd place by lap 3. Lacking a competitive car, Kaylen could not keep pace with the SFL drivers and finished 9 seconds behind the SFL pack in 8th place.

Race 11 | July 20th | Saturday

Starting Position: 8th Position
Finish Position: 7th
Starting in 8th, Kaylen advanced to 6th in lap one. Fighting hard in lap 2 to retain the 6th place, Kaylen held the spot for several laps. Due again to a car without pace, Kaylen had no speed to attack or defend. Pursuing driver Nonaka overtook Kaylen in lap 8, with Kaylen eventually finishing in 7th place.

Race 12| July 21st | Sunday

Starting Position: 8th Position
Finish Position: 8th
In another excellent start, Kaylen overtook four cars within lap one. Again, the race pace was insufficient to challenge or defend. By lap 4, Kaylen dropped back to 8th place. In the closing laps, the car expired and put an end to the Sugo weekend with a DNF (Did Not Finish).
